Welcome to Sydney!
Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with many attractions, landmarks and natural beauty. It is rapidly becoming a “must see” city as part of any international tour group, solo traveller or honeymoon destination. Sydney is a multicultural society and with its diversity comes its cuisine with just about every nationality of restaurant that you can think of just in the central business district alone you will never be short of a restaurant that will accommodate your tour group or just you.

What can we expect to see in Sydney?
Every tour group that visits Sydney must do a Sydney tour as this can be done in a full day or half day sightseeing and expect to see the major sights like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Mrs Macquaries Chair, Bondi Beach, The Gap, The Rocks, CBD main streets, Sydney Town Hall, Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Queen Victoria Building, Sydney Tower, Milsons Point, Kings Cross, Woolloomooloo, St Marys Cathedral, Rose Bay & Double Bay. These are a basic standard for any Sydney tour by minibus or coach. During your free time you can stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park or take a Monorail ride to Darling Harbour for shopping or shop at one of the many malls such as Pitt Street Mall with department stores, bargain & souvenir shops and foodcourts.

Sydney Tours Extras?
If you want to see more of Sydney then chartering a private transport company for an extended Sydney tour by minibus or coach is definitely the way to go. They can take you places that are not in the guide books and sourcing out a bus company that is experienced in all facets of touring is a smart move. Check on their website for information pertaining to all areas of touring and click around to see pics and information.

What other types of tours are there?
A good bus tour company will offer a variety of tours in Sydney and from Sydney to destinations such as the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Southern Highlands, Northern Beaches, Newcastle, Central Coast, Jervis Bay, Canberra, Port Stephens and speciality tours like history tours, shopping tours or Sydney Aboriginal history tours and self-custom tours then you know you are in the right place to get what you need.

Should I choose a private bus company or join a group?

Joining a group with a pay per person policy is not too bad but you are limited to destinations and a personal experience. A private bus company offering tours with an option of a driver guide or professional tour guide is by far the most rewarding experience you can have for the hands on and personalisation of experience you’ll receive. Other benefits are flexible itineraries, options to extend, spontaneous stops for photos and other little things that make a big difference.

How to find a private bus tour in Sydney?
While there are many phrases to use when seeking a bus tour in Sydney but to cut out all the mismatches and false positives you should just visit the Sydney Tour Professionals.

Take a look a the fantastic bus & coach tours of Tour Sydney Australia

Sydney has been acknowledged as one of the world's most excellent cities for events and festivals at a formal procedure in the United States this year.
Australia's harbor city was named greatest city in the 'over 1 million population' category at the inaugural International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) awards in Saint Louis in September this year.
Australia's New South Wales Major Events Minister Kevin Greene said, the judging panel had noted the city's triumph in hosting major events such as the Sydney Olympics, New Year's Eve, the Festival of Sydney and cultural Vivid Festival..
“The international panel of judges recognised Sydney's main events and cultural assets as essential to the city's attractiveness as a place to settle and go to work and go to see,” Greene said.
“It is one of the world's best-known city brands, boasting innumerable legendary locations and internationals icons.”
While visitors arrive in the state’s capital for such events and festivals, they are also keen in sightseeing as much as possible and to experience all the wonders this delightful city has to tender. A Sydney tour with a renowned tour and charter coach company will satisfy the sightseeing bug and let you leave the shores of Australia with a mind full of information, attractions and a few large memory sticks full of excellent pix not to mention a few days’ worth of reading and viewing about your experience on Facebook, YouTube & Twitter.
When a prospective guest to Sydney is online looking for coach companies that offer Sydney tours, there are a few things to mull over before choosing on which company will get your business. One of the first things you should look into is:

Is the coach company offering private tours or do you join a group and get told what to see and do?

Can the driver act a s a guide and give a personal experience and not some tape recording played over speakers in the bus?

Is the company experienced Sydney tours and not a broker that will find ‘Backyard Bob’s Sydney Tours’ on your behalf?

Is the company an accredited operator?

Is the itinerary and times flexible?

If any of these points are important to your needs then you need only look at one company: Tour Sydney Australia by Sydney Charter Bus, Coach & Minibus Hire.

Visit Sydney Tours for all your private bus & coach tours in Sydney, Australia.

A Sydney cyclist has taken to wearing a video camera strapped to his helmet to record near-misses with careless drivers.
Dave Bristow’s decision was nearly vindicated last week when a passing bus narrowly missed sweeping him off his bike.
Mr Bristow, of Allambie, recorded what he described as a dangerous incident last Thursday when a Forest Coach Lines bus heading for Warringah Mall cut close in front of him at speed, squeezing the cyclist towards the gutter.
Mr Bristow, an IT project manager who cycle-commutes daily from the northern beaches to the CBD, posted the video on YouTube, as well as reporting the incident to police and the bus company.
“That close call was closer than most,” he said.
“When it happens with a bus, I guess it’s more of a worry because they’re that much bigger.” Mr Bristow said he had been riding with the camera for around a month as it offered him “a leg to stand on” if he was involved in or witnessed any road mishaps. “Ultimately, if it came down to it, (the camera) would help provide some backing to someone’s story,” he said.
Mr Bristow said he had cycled to work for most of the past 15 years, both in Sydney and London, and was alarmed the bus driver had shown so little awareness towards a bike rider.
There is no suggestion the bus driver deliberately tried to run Mr Bristow off the road or that he had even seen the cyclist.
“He’s doing his job, he’s a professional, so you would expect a higher standard of driving from someone in that situation. They are driving massive vehicles compared to a car,” he said.
“I would say the road is well shared by 95 per cent of cyclists and road users, but I guess it’s fair to say you’re always going to get a few bad apples in a barrel.’‘

Are most Sydney drivers bike-friendly?

Mr Bristow said some riders’ irresponsibility could cause ongoing ill-feeling between motorists and cyclists, although he had experienced few problems on the road as he generally tried to ride defensively.
“I don’t pretend to suggest that cyclists are perfect, there are a minority that will jump lights and flout the road rules.”
“Sometimes it makes me cringe when I see other people riding, but with this bus that threatened to squash me, I had nowhere to go.”
“Hopefully this guy will open his eyes up to the vulnerability of other people on the road.”

Sydney Roads Are A Joke

Sydney roads are increasing in congestion and have slowed driving speeds on the major arterial roads for morning and afternoon peak hour dramatically.
Commuters from the north-west face the worst of it via the M2, Lane Cove Tunnel, Gore Hill Freeway then Sydney Harbour Bridge or by Victoria Road. Either way they experience extensive delays but at least via Victoria Rd they don’t have to pay to be sitting in traffic.
Traffic speeds for motorists to the CBD who use the M2, Lane Cove Tunnel, Gore Hill Freeway & Sydney Harbour Bridge dropped to just 30 kms p/h in 2009-10, which is down from 39 kms p/h in 2008. The M2 has a variable speed limit from 80 to 100 kph, no-one should be paying to travel on a motorway at those speeds

Even now with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tunnel going cashless has not eased the pain as motorists continue to crawl through the toll area fearing that if they drive any faster the tag will not respond and they will get penalised. Driving faster or no stopping does not ease the traffic snarl as motorists have to stop at traffic lights on entering the CBD and with the merging and changing of lanes from public buses coming off the Cahill Expressway to the York St bus lane is an absolute disaster.

This makes a joke of the Government planning to ease traffic congestion caused by population growth in the north-west by putting more buses on the route. The solution is not to add to the traffic by putting on more buses but to allocate bus corridors for buses, not a bus lane for 2 kms then an un-policed transit lane for 2 kms then mixing with the peak hour traffic for 10 kms and back to a bus lane. Do people actually get paid to make these terrible decisions?
It gets worse with the M5 tunnel (another disaster that someone got paid to design) but the slowest artery was Victoria Road, at an average of 18 kms p/h, down from 29 k’s seven years ago. This is a massive 42 kms under the speed limit. At this rate, Victoria Road will be a real car park by 2020.

Visite Sydney Roads to share your experience

The State Government’s chronic failure to invest

in the Sydney roads network is loud and clear.

Sydney Airport Transfers

When tourists and locals needing Sydney airport transfers arrive at Sydney International or the Domestic Airport for the first time they can often be a little confused as to where to go to get a bus especially if they don’t speak English as a first language. Having a pre-booked private transport company come and meet you or your group with a personalised sign is often a good way to go. This was there is no chance of getting lost and not being able to find your transportation and final destination.

Some groups opt for a rental of a car or minibus but this too complicates things as the last thing you want to do when you step off an international flight with jetlag is stand at a rental car counter for 40 minutes sorting out the details for your vehicle. Not only are there dangers of driving with jetlag but also a foreign country with unfamiliar road rules and possible driving on the other side of the road than you are used to. So it makes sense to book a charter bus for your Sydney airport transfers before arriving.

Choosing a company for Sydney Airport Transfers

While there are many charter bus companies to choose from in Sydney for airport transfers, just make sure you research them first, check their website for their accreditation number as an accredited and legal transport operator. If they fail to show this then they have something to hide so trust has already gone out the door. Make sure they are not a rental company that hires out buses without drivers but also offer services with drivers because rental vehicles are always mistreated inside & out and the chances of you stepping into an abused vehicle is almost certain.

Choose a company that specializes in bus charters as their drivers are professional, the vehicles always maintained for carrying private passengers and serviced under accreditation rules and law to manufacture’s specifications and an official government inspection every six months.

Check the charter bus company’s website for information relating to the service you require. If they show on their site that they do airport transfers in Sydney and have a page dedicated to such services then you know they offer this service where some companies that hire or rent vehicles will just claim they do such services and their driver probably shows up at the wrong terminal.

Sydney Airport Transfers – Arrivals, Pickups & Shuttles

Some groups arriving back to Sydney Airport from holidays don’t always require a meet & greet service by the driver at the baggage carousel as they are familiar with the area. A charter bus company that gives the customer a choice of a friendly meet & greet or the group meets the driver is a great way to save on unnecessary costs of bus parking with detailed information and easy to read maps of a short walk to the group pickup area at Sydney’s International terminal and both domestic terminals.

Some bus hire and bus rental companies in Sydney will try to sway you with their spiel of their vehicles being only one or two years old so you will get a new or late model vehicle for your service but remember that these vehicles have been rented out for bucks parties, hen’s nights and party weekends away that come back absolutely trashed and with 10,000 extra miles or kilometres added. When a rental or hired out vehicle comes back with damage the renter is charged with the damage and 99% of the time the company will not repair the damage and pocket the money as a bonus. Under New South Wales law and perhaps Australian law these bus hire and bus rental companies are not legally required to repair the damage. I personally have rented a minibus from one of these (mixed bus hire/minibus rental) companies in the past and although the bus was only 12 months old it looked like it have been to the battle front. I was totally unimpressed and I was glad it was only for a family day away to Jamberoo Park. If I had to pick up guests or customers I would be very embarrassed, actually I would have declined the vehicle. Looking at the rest of the fleet was a pretty eyebrow raising experience as well.

So if you need a bus, luxury coach, minivan or minibus with a driver then you should seek a professional and specialised Sydney charter bus company for all your Sydney Airport transfers, Sydney bus tours and general bus and coach charters in Sydney, Australia.

Visit Sydney Charter Bus for all your Sydney Airport Transfers

Let’s break it down into more detail.

·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> Coach – A coach can carry passengers from 25 to60 with most coach companies in Sydney averaging a 34, 48, 50 & 53 seatercoaches often with the tag of luxury coaches attached or five star coaches. Alot of older coaches, say 10 to 15 years old are five star but don’t look asslick and modern as the late model coaches but still have a lovely interior, comfortable, run well and have all mod cons including air-conditioner, DVDplayer, toilets, curtains and carpet. These older coaches would no longer beconsiders luxury coaches or 5 star coaches so you’d want to make sure you checkwith the supplier or ask for photos inside and out. All coaches will have understorage for luggage. Some luxury coaches have hot water urns.

·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> Midi-Coach – Generally the next sizeup from a minibus with seating capacity of up to 30 or so passengers. The termmidi-bus is not common is Australia or U.S but is used widely in the U.K as asingle sized “decker” bus rather than the “Double Decker” bus that was used inSydney before the introduction of the “bendy bus.” Some coach and bus companiesin Sydney may refer to these vehicles as a midi-coach but most have started touse the term mini-coach or mini coach or even just by its seating capacity e.g.30 seater or 34 seater.

·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> Bus – A general categorised keyword that can beused for coaches, minibuses, school buses and other people mover vehiclesincluding the luxury and deluxe models of coaches and mini buses. So this is a good general word to usewhen searching for your vehicle online.

·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> Minibus – often spelled mini bus or mini-bus.These vehicles carry from 13 passengers to 24 passengers and there are twotypes of minibuses that are popular in Sydney and they are the 20 seater ToyotaCoaster and the 24 seater Mitsubishi Rosa. The 20 seater Coaster is the mostpopular with its spacious interior, low-backed seats, large windows and somehave an after-market installation of curtains. These are the social minibusesand are by far the most reliable minibus operating in Sydney with a lot ofcompanies with models that are over 10 years old and they still run well andlook great. There are 2 models of the Coaster and that is standard and theother is deluxe. The best thing about these mini-buses is that they are a superreliable, well-built and they run forever. The Rosa on the other hand is thepeople mover of the mini bus market. They literally sacrifice space for theextra seats. The Rosa has coach seats which are high-backed which are great forlong distance charters or interstate transfers but for tours & socialgroups they are not recommended. The design of the Rosa is suited for the small& skinny so any larger folk will struggle to get comfortable and have towalk sideways down the aisle. If you are lucky enough to get a double seat thennot so bad but these are designed to seat maximum passengers in minimal space.Another annoying factor with the Rosa is that due to their coach seats, thepassengers cannot see 360 degrees and are limited to their own window and a pieceof the opposite window. When on tour the driver or guide might say they areapproaching the certain landmark and everyone has to lean out of their seats orstand and look over the seats just to see in front of them and taking in thefact that nearly everyone else does the same thing then safety is compromised withthe standing and passengers in the aisle seats lean into the aisle and can bumpheads. This is not a good touring but great for just a people mover.

·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> Minivan – often referred as mini vans ormini-vans, they are still considered minibuses. These are 14 seats which is 13passengers plus one driver. These vehicles are mostly labelled as 12 seaters. On a standard C class licence is Sydney and Australia a driver is limited tocarrying 11 passengers so most rental companies will have 2 seats removed outof the back to make it a 12 seater minivan or minibus. Once the driver has 12passengers his or her licence class must be upgraded to an LR or Light Rigidclass. Most companies will display a 14 seater as a 12 seater because if thecustomer has 13 passengers then one will have to sit in the front with thedriver. Not that this is a bad thing but the one in the front doesn’t reallysocialise with the rest of the group and if it’s a long distance charter to theBlue Mountains or the Hunter Valley then the person in the front is secludedfrom the group. So the general rule is the 14 seaters are referred as 12 seatersto carry 12 passengers. The most common 12 seater minibus or minivan in Sydneyis the Toyota Hiace Commuter. The new model is the best looking mini bus aroundcompared the Mercedes Sprinter which is a nice vehicle but has long term issuesand they are not that popular.

·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> Micro-Coach – A name given to the smallest legalpassenger vehicle allowed operating as a public passenger vehicle or touristvehicle. This are generally a Toyota Tarago which have to be engineer modified withan extra seat (between the driver and front passenger) to give it a seatingcapacity of 9 which is 8 passengers plus the driver. Most companies will neverfill to capacity as the extra seat is not large enough to use for an adult. Itis only there for the legal requirement. Most Sydney companies will put 5 ormaybe 6 in the micro-coach and display the vehicle as a 7 seater on theirwebsite. Try a Google Image search of Micro-coach Sydney to get an idea of Sydneytransport companies displaying such vehicles. This is not a commonly usedvehicle description.

So now you have all the information on the type of vehicleyou’ll need, now you need the service keyword you will be requiring. A lot of peopleuse the search term “hire” for their general requirements. While this is abroad term used for both hire with a driver and hire without a driver it canoften cause confusion for the customer looking for one or the other. Mosttransport companies in Sydney recognise the hire as “with driver” which is whythey use the word as part of their keyword website structure and they usuallyput on their website that either they only supply hire with driver or they don’toffer services without drivers. It’s good to read the front page of any websiteto get all the information before submitting an enquiry or making a phone call.On the other side of the coin there is the “hire” without a driver, as if tohire a car and drive yourself. The word hire can be looked at in 2 different wayswhich is why it is a commonly used keyword to find services on the internet. The term “rent” is pretty straight forward as to rent a car or rent a bus and self-drive.Most rental car companies will have minivans and minibuses for rent that arekept in good condition.

Now we come to the most accurate term used for finding thebus & driver company and that is “charter.” To charter a bus, charter acoach, charter a minibus or charter a minivan should yield results withoutbeing taken to rental companies. If the company you find also does rentals thentry to avoid this as rental vehicles are most of the time have been abused by apathetic renters that trash the vehicleand the company rarely repairs the damage but instead pockets the insurance.

Try Googling your search terms according to yourrequirements or you could just visit Sydney Charter Bus for all your transportrequirements from coach hire, coach charter, bus hire, bus charters, minibushire and minibus charters but no rentals.

Take a look at their website and see how they display thevehicles as 20 seaters, 50 seaters and 7 seaters etc. Look at their Fleet pageto see outer and interior photos of luxury coaches, deluxe minibuses andmicro-coaches. Look at the difference between the 20 seater and 24 seater, youcan clearly see the space difference and comfort factor.

At Sydney Charter Bus they have a small phrase they like touse to remove all the confusion or complications of travel in Sydney.

Sydney Charter Bus

A few months ago my friends and I went out for dinner using public transport and it was a disaster so I want to share the experience we had.
I had a group of 15 friends and we wanted to be at a restaurant in Darling Harbour by 7pm so we left our location at Riverview which is about 20 minutes drive on a good day at about 13kms from our destination. We left at 5pm to be on the safe side and had to walk to the nearest bus stop (about 10 minutes walk away) and wait 20 minutes for a bus that should have arrived 15 minutes earlier, so far so good? The bus took us to the interchange at Lane Cove where we had to get off after 20 minutes driving and wait another 15 minutes for the bus to take us to the city. The bus was full and drove right past us.
Time: 6:05pm
We had the choice of catching another bus all stops to North Sydney and catching a train or taxi or even walking but it was cold and clouds threatened rain so we waited for the next one.
The bus timetable said the next express bus was due in 25 minutes and the next all stops bus was due in 12 minutes. At this time we decided to experiment and half the group would take the early all stops bus and the other half would wait for the express and we’d meet up at Wynyard in Sydney’s CBD.
As usual the all stops bus was 10 minutes late and arrived 6:27pm there was about 8 other people wanting to get on and 8 from our group so it took about 5 minutes for everyone to pay and get on. We have transfer tickets but it still took ages and our group squeezed on and had to stand on the bus pack in like sardines in a fogged up bus that was noisy, smelly and very uncomfortable. At every bus stop someone had to get off and others get on so with most of the people sitting down wanting to get off was like being herded like sheep while the “Bus Stop Shuffle” manoeuvres had to take place in order for people to get off, standing passengers fill the newly vacant seat and the rest of the standing fill the gaps while new passengers get on and the cycle continues.
It took 55 minutes for the bus to get to the city from Lane Cove interchange all stops, all bad.
Time arrival at Wynyard – 7:22pm; we are already 22 minutes late for our reservation and we still are 3kms away from our destination.
The other half of the group arrived and had a similar story of the “Bus Stop Shuffle” but between that and 50% of patrons on the bus with blaring MP3 players, backpacks on peoples backs that take up nearly double the space and cause discomfort as they turn and a driver that was fresh off his learners licence we all met up and had to decide our next transport need.
We were at Wynyard and we have 3 choices to get to Harbourside at Darling Harbour;

Walk – this would take about 30 minutes and with rain looming was a risky option

Taxi – we would need 4 taxis and competing with everyone else was not an option

Walk or catch a train to the Monorail Station and get it to Darling Harbour

We decided to walk and it took 25 minutes and we arrived sweaty, frustrated and not in a good mood. By the time we were seated it was 8pm. By the time we were eating it was 8:45pm.
Nearly 3 hours it took using Sydney’s public transport infrastructure.

Lucky the restaurant was fantastic and a good time was had by all until one member of the group asked the question……What are we going to do to get home?
Everyone looked at each other with long faces and we decided to stay in the Darling Harbour after the meal and each make our own way to our own homes. It was because of the public transport system that we didn’t stick to our original plan and it was an absolute disaster catching the public transport system that we all vowed never to do again.

One of the people in the group suggested we should have used a private transport company but I had no idea what to look for online. One member of the group said they would type in to Google the search term bus charter Sydney, one member said bus hire Sydney and another suggested that since we were a small group we should search minibus charter Sydney as chartering a bus we would know comes with a professional driver and not from some rental company that would get their mates to do the driving. So, a minibus charter company or charter bus company with mini buses.

When I got home late that night I went on to the major search engines and had a look and found some companies and looked at their services, most offered a chartered minibus but there were a few rental companies as well that didn’t appeal to me even though they offered drivers. The biggest drawback with the rental companies offering drivers is that the vehicles have been abused by rentals over the years and rarely do they repair them so you’d end up with some beaten up vehicle that’s been to hell & back. So charter bus companies it is.

A few months later we planned another outing with the group from Riverview to a restaurant in Darling Harbour but this time we chartered a mini bus. The vehicle arrived 10 minutes prior to our time and we could see the driver checking the vehicles tyres and general inspection which gave us a good feeling knowing he was being professional. The mini bus was clean and well-presented and it only took 20 minutes to get to the city in the bus lane. We all looked at each other and smiled with approval and the ease and comfort we had for our evening. We were dropped as close as possible to our destination and we complimented the driver and in a great frame of mind we all had a wonderful time. The driver was waiting where he had dropped us off with the air-conditioner on and we rode the mini bus back to our location in 20 minutes. Successful night!
We saved a potential 5 hours of hassle using public transport with discomfort and noise and we rode in a deluxe minibus with a good driver.

Yes, we paid a little extra for the service than using public transport but once the cost was spit up between the group it really wasn’t all that bad and we didn’t have all the issues we did using public transport and the time save was enormous and well worth paying extra for. Private transport is a must for any group and chartering a bus, coach or mini-bus is highly recommended to avoid problems.
We will never use public transport again; private transport charter bus companies in Sydney are 100% the way to go.
Who did we use? I hear you ask……
We went with a reliable, punctual & friendly & clean charter bus company in Sydney called Sydney Charter Bus Australia.
Why?
Because they gave us the most relevant information without pressure of making a booking, they had a great website without any misleading information and the price was competitive which included all taxes and tolls. Compared to other companies that gave us a price then said plus GST, plus tolls, plus a bond, plus this and that…..way too much overload of plus.
We filled out their online booking form and read their terms & conditions. There were quite a lot but it was essential that we knew exactly what we were getting and not finding out after the job that there we extra expenses. Everything was absolutely fine. It’s good to know in advance what we expect from them and know our limitations for our own safety and comfort of others. This is being honest, upfront and to the point. You gotta respect that!

Sydney Charter Bus lived up to its claim of reliable, punctual, friendly & clean motto and we’ll be using them again for sure and being highly recommended to our work colleagues and friends.

There are a few lessons to learn about chartering a mini bus or luxury coach in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns & basically all cities in Australia. The first thing we need to know is that the bus company is actually legitimate and an accredited operator. Under Australian law a tour, charter or private transport operator must be accredited. This involves a course in Transport Management that teaches the operator about safety and management with in-depth studies on safety and responsibility of their business within the law on their state or territory. Once they pass this course they have to apply for accreditation through the Ministry of Transport in their home state or territory. This is a very important thing to know about any operator.

Once accredited, the company is required to have in place safety management policies, vehicle maintenance policies, staff alcohol & drug testing polices, insurance registers and many other strict policies and registers to ensure they are running a legal, safe & appropriate business. They are then subject to yearly audits and independent audits on these policies, registers and safety handbooks and fleet checking where they can lose their accreditation if they are not in order.

All these strict policies and safety steps are to ensure you that the coach & bus business is running legally and the vehicles running accordingly.
There are some broker transport companies also known as wholesaler or network companies offering bus & coach services throughout Australia. While this may seem legitimate there are some serious insurance issues for using these companies because they hand over the booking to cheaper companies and perhaps non accredited companies for a large profit and if there were to be an accident then the broker or network company is not liable but the operator that may not be accredited or worse not insured. By using these companies you do not know what company or what type of vehicle will turn up.

These broker & network companies avoid using bus & coach companies that have company logos and or bus signage visible on the bus to mask the fact that they do not own it. They will deceive you from the moment you make a phone call as they will not tell you they do not own any vehicles. The price they charge is usually marked up by a large percentage which in turn leads them to find the cheapest company to give it to.

Let’s look at the situation like this:
If you wanted to buy a new computer and there were two shops both offering the same products, same services but the difference is one shop has stock of the computers, is licenced and is local while the other has a nice looking shop with only pictures of computers and has shops all over Australia. You walk into the local and licenced shop and receive a price and you can see the computers and what you will receive. Then you walk into the other store and the salesman says he can give you a new computer and a competitive price but he can’t show you the computer and you have to pay upfront and wait and see what you get. Would you trust that or more importantly would you risk that?

Some of these companies have now started to abbreviate their company name to hide the network, wholesaler or broker words from the name to deceive you so be careful. I personally know of nine companies operating in Australia out of bedrooms in cities such as Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Gold Coast with their false testimonies on their websites with fake & stock photos of limousines, luxury coaches, deluxe minibuses and minivans in their fleet of zero.

What you should know before making a booking:

Does the company also rent out vehicles without drivers? If so then avoid it as rented vehicles are usually trashed and abused by weekend’s away party animals.

Ask for a copy of the operators Certificate of Insurance or Public Liability Insurance Documents. If they cannot provide immediately then they don’t have any.

Does the company operate within the law or the state or territory they’re based in? Ensure that the company’s buses and coaches are legally licensed and registered with commercial license plates of their state or territory and not from another state as they maybe avoiding certain requirements and exploiting loopholes in accreditation in different states.

How many buses or coaches do they have in the fleet? This can show you if the company can supply a vehicle at the last minute in-case of unforeseen circumstances or last minute bookings.

Is the company an accredited operator? Ask them to show you their accreditation certificate, this will also show you have many vehicles in their fleet.

Is the company a specialised charter bus company and not a broker, network or wholesaler?

Now you have at least six important questions that you must ask before committing to a booking.
In New South Wales, an accredited operator with commercial license plates with have the following letter TV followed by a series of number of about four numbers e.g. TV 0000. This is a commercial license plate with the TV meaning Touring Vehicle.
These vehicles are bus lane& transit lane permitted compared to non-commercial plates which are not allowed in bus lanes.

There are many legal and legitimate companies operating out of the major cities of Australia to choose from when it comes to bus charter services for tours, airport transfers and pickups, corporate events, weddings, social outings, school excursions, and race days.
I found a website call Bus & Coach Directory that only accepts legal & accredited operators in all areas of Australia, so a simple click on the city you wish to find a company in will yield results of only legal transport operators so save that in your favourites and you’ll only ever have to visit one website to find results for bus charters, bus tours, coach charters, coach tours in all cities and towns in Australia. If you find a business that is not listed then you should ask them why not.
